Should a service with brake pads take longer than a morning?

Dependent on the type of car, grade of service, and which pads, (front, rear, or both), I reckon you could do it in a time of 2-3.5 hours all in comfortably, including a road test.

Depends if they have to wait for parts and if the callipers needs to be worked on. You do not say what car or what service.

It might depend on how many customers are in front of you for service and how many people the shop has to do the work.

No. If it does they have other work in front of yours.

30 minutes- they have other cars ahead of you is all.
