Should I sell my car after head gasket replacement?

First off, if you spent $1500 to have it fixed doesnt mean it boosts the car's value past $1500. So if your planning on selling it, sell it now. It really would be stupid to spend that kind of money just to sell it. Since you failed to mention the year, make & model of the vehicle, it would have to be in dang perfect condition. If there are any damages to the paint, body or interior, your vehicle wouldnt be worth much even if you fixed the engine

I had a lady with a Catera that had $3,000 worth of repairs to it. Some idiot told her that if she fixed everything that her car would be worth at least that much. She was about to spend that kind of money on it & I had to talk her out of it. I told her even after the repairs, her car would be worth about $1900 if she was lucky

If the head gasket job is done correctly, you should be fine. BUT, surface preparation is EVERYTHING in a head gasket job and a lot of techs don't do it right.

until you know and fix the source of the problem it may come back...

swing it by the shop and lets take a look at it.

and your prolly get more money out of it after its fixed

what kind of car re we working on

My car just blew the head gasket and it would cost me around $1500 to fix it, assuming nothing else is wrong. One guy told me I should fix it and sell it asap after that for a decent amount, as it will likely give problems in the future. I'm no mechanic, so can someone please tell me if it's always downhill after head gasket replacement? What else could go wrong if I spend so much money and get it done right from a good mechanic?
