Most batteries show the date the battery was installed. It should be a sticker or stamp on top of the battery. If the battery is more than about 3years old then you can expect it to go out soon. Less than that and I would not worry too much.
The interior light of a car doesn't use a lot of power. It's not like leaving the headlights on overnight. As long as everything is working OK now I wouldn't worry about it.
How old is the battery? If its original to car and over three or four, you might as well switch it for peace of mind. If its new, one overnight drain won't hurt it. It should be ok now that you drove it.
Draining the battery has little or no impact on its life. The car's alternator will charge it back up. A car battery is like a cell phone battery---it can be charged many times during its life.
The insight light of a car doesn't use lot of power.....So,you don't have to worry much..
If your commute is long enough to recharge your battery AND you can start the car and drive home then you probably haven't ruined your battery.
You can always ask around and find a shop, with a reputation for honesty, that will check your battery AND your alternator AN D your "cranking amps" for you. See what the shop tells you.
I bought a used car from a dealership about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Last night I left the inside light on all night. Between last night and this morning would be about 10 hours. I was still able to start my car and go to work. Should I be worried that my battery will die soon and get a new battery,or not? I just don't want end up stuck at home missing work within the next few months.
