thanks
My local independent Honda mechanic says no to flushes, just drain and replace a couple of times. Nothing but Honda fluid will work in these things so remember that.
Oh, yes, yes, YES!! Taht car is SOO in need of a tranny change.
As Mike said, he's changing every 30K miles. Used to be, 50K was standard mileage. But one guy told me, when he's spent $40K on his fancy pickup truck, he's not gonna have to fix his tranny in case the fluid went bad on him. So he was changing it every 20K, but I think that's too soon. It doesn't seem to get broken in until about 5,000 miles.
So I'd definitely go change it. However, everyone now wants to flush your tranny. My local garage charged me $300 for it. But he used a synthetic tranny fluid, and it worked great in my dad's old Buick.
1995 Buick Lesabre, when I'd put into gear, engine would rev badly, and then THUNK into gear. Was terrible, whole car would shake. It was probably original tranny fluid with 100K miles on it.
After getting tranny fluid changed out, you couldn't believe how whisper-quiet the transmission now shifts!! Amazing difference.
Like that Buick went from shifting like Frankenstein to now shifting like Tinkerbell!! So please do your wonderful Honda a blessing, and do get it changed out. Doesn't have to be synthetic, because you probalby won't have to worry about changing the tranny fluid ever again, as long as you own the car.
yes !
im no mechanic but i know every thing that is used is worn out sooner or later and the fluids in the car are no exception. i would better spend the money on the maintenance than risking to spend 10 times more money on the reparation, nothing happend after 100k miles but tomorrow it can be to late.
Yes especially in hondas, transmission fluid flushes with factory honda transmission fluid is very good for the trans. I recommend every 30k -40k
Try reading the instruction manual supplied with the car. It serves no other purpose
I have a civic with 100000 miles never changed it ??
thanks
