Rover streetwise SRS fault...why wont engine start....plz help?

Hi so the safety response system has failed well that means he airbags are disabled so it needs to be fixed as now the engine immobiliser is causing problems. time to get it looked at.

time even to consider dumping this heap of junk.

Does it have a clutch start cancel switch? If the clutch switch is bad it will cut off the starter because it thinks it is in gear. Also try jumping it. A dying battery can still power the lights fine but not supply the juice needed to crank the engine or bump start. I'm assuming here that it is a manual since you say you tried bumpstarting. An automatic should start in Park or Neutral.

I chked the blog site for your rig. this is common, happens on almost all these cars. The fix was Unplug the conections under your seat and reconnect, this is a weak link an 90% of the time this is a fix. But it will do it again over and over, all owners say the same thing.

check your main feed wire battery cable located to the starter-motor solenoid ,which tends to corrode at its connection. the wire should have a spade connector ,simply remove / unplug and then replace..your SRS illuminate dash light is your steering wheel airbag which does not affect the starting problem of the engine.

Check fuses. Might be a blown fuse causing a no spark situation.

Im at work pn nightshift.....i tried to start car before....engine wont even turn over....battery ok....lights and electrics working....dashboard is showing SRS fault. i did hoover car on sat...so possibly have caused bad connection to airbags under driver seat.....but why is my engine dead...no clicking...no attempt to turn over..nothing.....is it related to Srs fault..or completely different...

It wouldnt bump start from second gear either...

Is there any way i can over ride whatever issue the car has this time....just to get home from work tonite...thanks
