Replaced Audi Front Control Arm - Alingment Question?

You might better have an Audi Dealer align the car. IF the ball-joints and tie-rod ends are OK, to straighten the steering wheel they will *shorten the left side tie-rod ends on the tie-rod and lengthen the right side tie-rod ends on the tie-rod.

What part in steering did you dis-assemble w/ TC swap? Doesn't make sense. After all that parts replacement, going to HAVE to have it professionally aligned to set camber, caster and toe. Finish the pass. side, bite the bullet, and have shop re-center steering wheel while they're at it. Good luck.

Finish up the job and then take it in for the alignment. IF the toe in is way off the tires will wear quickly so, no unnecessary driving. You can adjust closer by first setting camber by firmly pressing a 24" bubble level against the hub and adjusting the camber as close to vertical as you can get, you will see that eyeballing is not going to cut it the level will show you can be far off. Next toe in, a crude measurement with a tape measure from center groove in the tread measure compared from the front to the back and adjusting to get the measurements the same as you can. Hopefully, this will let you drive to get the alignment done without squealing rubber every time you make a turn.

a good alignment center will get it aligned for you ! they will adjust the camber, caster and toe end for you ! that,s not a bad price for a 4 wheel alignment !

Can I have more info on this?

Ok, this is not my first car repair. I have done about everything. But now we are working on my 2000 Audi A6 2.7T.

Now last month I pulled motor and replaced worn torque converter and installed 3" downpipes. This threw off my alignment from inside the car. The steering wheel was about 1/3" down to the right.

While I was under there I seen I needed some control arms. So I purchased the whole kit. All 13 pieces. Upper & Lower and Front & Rear, sway bar links and tie rod, along with new nuts and bolts.

so far I got drivers side down. I followed 2 video DIY's and the official Bently Publishers repair video. I did Everything To The Tee. I counted the turns on tie rod but the Audi's 4 control arm setup is new to me. Just a quick hop in the car go around block to turn it around in garage I see I am way off on steering wheel. I'd say 45° from horizontal. Now when I take it for my alignment after I finish passenger side. Is Tire Kingdom gonna be able to get the steering wheel back TRUE? What should I do? When I do passenger side am I gonna really make it screwy. Just not sure how I can help it b4 bringing it cause I rather I do the work myself and that my Alignment for $89.99 be all the labor I pay for! When I put wheel straight in car wheels look straight. Only see/notice how bad while driving. On previous cars the tie rod made the wheel outside angle off.

Thanks!
