Recharging Air Conditioning system in Charvy Blazer?

Anyone have success in recharging their AC with the cans of refrigerant sold at auto stores?

Very bad idea. Those kits have destroyed countless compressors because the instructions are bogus - it is impossible to determine the charge quantity with gauges and even a few ounces of overcharge (the readings will be identical to the proper charge readings) will spill "slugs" of liquid refrigerant out of the evaporator into the compressor, where it has the same effect that chewing on rocks has on teeth. Replacing the compressor in your Blazer runs upward of $1000; a professional service is about $100 (shop around... prices vary a lot for the same quality). It seems like an easy decision.

Easy method to identify high and low side. Starting at the compressor, the low side always goes to the passenger compartment while the high side goes in front of the radiator.

Refrigerant will leak out over time in any system. Be careful to follow the instructions as the system has a high pressure side and a low pressure side. You want to be connected to the low pressure side. I would look on YouTube for a video how to do this.

Your car's air conditioner system is a closed loop system that should not need a "recharge." If it's loosing coolant, then there is a leak somewhere and the system needs repair. Take the car to an auto air conditioning specialist and get it fixed right.

i do it every year to my 97 chev. pu
