1) Older (carbureted) cars, require time to pump the air out of the lines, after you put fuel back into it. Make sure you have ATLEAST 1/4 tank of Fuel, and dont let it run out again.
2) Fuel Injected cars dont have the problem above, meaning you have a separate issue, if your car is Fuel Injected.
GM cars used to burn up the fuel pump if you ran the tank empty regularly.
Fuel system requires "Bleeding" to remove air locks.
get the bus to buy some gas in a tub, come back and fill er' up idk lol
