Quick Fix for Engine Blow-By?

Jeeze, replace the PCV valve. That's all there is to it. Keep driving it that way and you'll blow out even more gaskets

You need to include year make model engine size mileage and country of origin. First power wash engine bay with GUNK engine cleaner drive over an oil change pit where they can spot any leaks. All cars today require special additives that the testing engineers endorse. This is why there are spec numbers on oil containers. An oil that works fine in a push rod Buick can destroy a Honda or Audi. Cheap wax based oil turns back into the wax and tar it came from. Modern engines rarely get bad or worn rings. But the ring matrix can fillip with sludge and then bake in. This is why there are engine flushes. Until I know what your car is. I cannot help you. More details please!

A new PCV valve is not going to fix the oil leaks on top of the engine.

It creates a negative pressure inside the crankcase and in theory helps seal gaskets. But mostly it removes gas by-products and routes them throught the intake system. Sounds like you have bad valve cover gaskets. Some engines run without a PCV system and not a drop of oil anywhere.

Clean all the PVC lines and replace the inexpensive PVC valve.

I currently have a clogged PCV system but do not have the time or the money to replace the whole thing; oil is leaking everywhere and sitting on top of the engine. I need to get the car about 250 miles north and can make the repair once there, but for now I need a temporary fix to get the car there. Are there anyways I can do a quick fix to relieve the pressure, etc.?? I am not familiar with an oil catch can but would this help? Thanks.
