Your taking trans out anyway to get to clutch. Take out trans support crossmember, lower trans which should give you room to top bolts. Replace a couple of the bolts with 6+in bolts with heads cut off as alignment pins.
Have you ever changed out clutch or pulled trans before?
Or lower the engine cradle. But cutting a hole is the floor is really no big deal as long as you patch it.
Unbolt back of cab where it bolts to frame and place jacks under both sides of cab. When you jack the cab up you will be able to access bolts.
Cut a hole in the floor and cover it over with some sheet metal and/or fiberglass when you're done.
Yes,cut a hole in the floor then patch it later.
My dad and I are replacing the clutch on our 2000 gmc sanoma sls (its the 2.2 ohv, not flex fuel, but that hardly matters) and are all the way down to taking the transmission out of the vehicle, meaning we have to separate the engine and transmission. We can easily get to 4 of the 6 bolts, but the very top two are blocked by the floor of the vehicle itself. We have tried going in diagonally, using an elbow (or universal knuckle, I think my dad calls it), using multiple and few extentions, and nothing seems to work. We also tried jacking up the engine a little bit but that just brought up the whole truck. Does anybody have any tricks/ideas to get to the blocked bolt out?
Help appreciated, thanks!
