It's costs much more to change a clutch in a front wheel drive car than a rear wheel drive car.
Sounds like your clutch is going out if you can fix it yourself it wouldn't cost maybe a hundred hundred and fifty bucks take it to a mechanic alot more plus whatever extra they decide to throw in the mix to make a few extra bucks.
Your clutch could be out of adjustment if it is mechanical, you could be low hydraulic fluid, or have a damaged hydraulic clutch system if it is sealed, your throw out bearing could be bad, or you clutch pressure plate could be damaged if you ride the clutch.
Your clutch may be using hydraulic lines and there may be a leak somewhere causing you to lose pressure on the clutch, causing it to engage.
I drive a manual car with about 200k miles on it.
The clutch does not seem to be working as of this morning. (It is an extremely hot day, mind you.) Even with the clutch fully depressed, I stalled at an intersection. If I am in first gear my revs keep falling and the car moves forward even with the clutch fully down.
I have to yank the stick back into neutral because it is sticking in the gears. My Air Conditioning often lowers the engine RPM but I made sure to turn it off and the problem persisted.
What's wrong with my car? How expensive is it to fix?
