Hi No do it yourself here this is a dealer that needs to check this out it could be so many reasons which would be too many to add to a list. chances are it is something simple that needs replacing which the diagnostic tester would find in minutes.
other wise you will go down the poke and no hope route spending more money than you need to.
There may be some problem with the brake oil u may need to bleed the brake and remove the air from the systm
Did you install a high quality set of brake shoes with the same material as your car requires . . . if not it could be the brake drums are glazed, did you at least deglaze them with emory cloth . . . if not, you have more work ahead of you . . . good luck!
Hi, my car is 2001 Toyota Carina (japan domestic market version, i'm from Asia) on 5AFE 1.5L engine auto transmission. It does have working ABS. I'm having problem with braking. All parts in that system iare OEM, fluid is good, pads and disks are fine too. Last week i replaced the brake shoes only. But i've been having weak braking power issue for since last month. Brake pedal is not spongy, quite firm but braking power feels weak, it doesn't stop as quickly as i want it. Car idles fine at all time though no issue there. no idea what could possibly be going wrong. Booster? Master Cylinder? Any DIY check I can perform?
