I am not sure how much 'one line' is in terms of your car, but your Buick is 17 years old and probably has lots of miles on it. So some wear and some drop in oil pressure at idle is normal. As long as you have good pressure at normal driving speed you should be OK. You might want to experiment with oil designed for high mileage cars or slightly heavier oil. (especially in summer).

after driving a lot, like on the interstate, is it normal for the oil pressure to drop off a little ? it holds at 40 pounds while driving ! sitting and idling it drops off about one line but as soon as you start to go it jumps back up to 40 pounds again and stays there ! is that normal on most cars ? i use 10w30 motor oil ! i have a 1997 buick lesabre 3800 v6 !
