OVERDRIVE off on highway, think i did some damage to my car?

Maybe. The car is factory set with a rev limiter, but hat doesn't account for worn engine parts to start from. This depends on if the engine became very hot or started low on oil / had oil fresh or not. It may as well respond well to a fresh oil change and new spark plugs. PS driving at high speeds distracted like that may have caused far worse than some motor damage consider your self lucky if this is all that happened.

At 90 with top gear locked out, it's likely that your engine has been running at a very high speed and especially with an older engine, there's a good chance of damage. It probably got pretty hot, but if you didn't notice the engine screaming, you probably didn't notice the temperature gauge going into the red either.

Absolutely silly for others to compare their vehicles (like a Chrysler LHS) with your Corolla. Your car has a small, 1800 cc engine......with a 3.77 final drive ratio. That poor little engine would have been spinning at or above redline to to 90 mph. Frankly, I'm sort of amazed that it would be capable of going that fast - - but I bet it won't much longer. For prolonged period at that rpm, on a 17 year old car, I would expect accelerated rod bearing/crankshaft wear........possible damage to valve train.

Driving 90 miles an hour and paying so little attention that you didn't notice that your engine was screaming for mercy.

You are a menace. Or at least you were. Your engine will be dead soon, which will stop you from killing someone.

It is doubtful that you would damage an engine by driving without your overdrive on unless you exceeded the maximum RPMs for that engine for a period of time. I would say it all depends on how many RPMs you were turning, for how long, and the overall condition of the engine before it happened. If you see smoke from your exhaust now, and there was none before, or hear a knocking sound from the engine, you probably did damage.

If the engine oil level was full as well as the coolant you didn't damage the engine. The timing belt should be changed every 100,000 miles however.

Probably not- my Chrysler LHS (in the manual) stated to NOT use overdrive when towing - doesn't specify any max speeds or anything of that nature.

Your Engine is fine, didn't "hurt" it a bit, Other then you used more fuel then you would have, Had you of had it in Overdrive.

engine runes at a higher rpm and your gas goes faster.

I have a 1998 toyota corolla and i was driving on the freeway at 90mph NOT KNOWING that overdrive was OFF because i was with some friends, the windows were down and the music was playing loud.

Could i have damaged my engine ? It does not sound right.
