What is the best way to remove the transmission
And a thank you in advance
The best thing you can do for yourself and your Volvo is to put it in a shop that services Volvos. Even mechanics hate working on them, they're so complicated with stuff in the way. If you still have to try to do this, I know you'll end up crying with parts all over the driveway you can't get back in. Start with a Chilton's Manual. Get some strong jack stands and a floor jack so you don't end up with a mouth full of transmission after the last bolt comes out. You'll need to support the engine from the bottom while the transmission is off. I'm not telling you any more because I don't want you killing yourself and your wife mad at me.
It comes out from the bottom so you'll need an engine holder and a transmission jack. For step by step, buy a short subscription to alldatadiy.com
Spend $25 on a shop manual, it will detail the process one step at a time and give you proper torque sequences and torque specs.
Or just go for it and hope for the best! ;)

I'm about to change out the entire clutch on my car but I have to remove the transmission first.
