however some sort of detention should be inflicted like being sent to bed early is what you can only do these days.
Separate the key from the "fob" again, and make sure the small transponder chip is still in the key.
It may have fell out when the key fob broke.
If its missing, get your son on his hands and knees looking for it.
The key is broken. You may have to go to the dealer for a working replacement. I'm sure your son will be glad to pay for the damage he did.
There is an 85% chance that your son broke the fob. I am not sure if WalMart can help. I've heard that where they sell replacement car keys/ house keys, they also have replacement fobs. You might want to check. I am not sure though. Good luck.
"Drove car home and it worked perfectly"
"in a temper smashed keys into floor and one of the car keys broke apart."
"Could he have damaged fob ?. Or have i bought a broken car. "
Hmmm I wonder if it could be a broken car? Of course it is the fob, your son needs to fork out £200 for a new one and to get it coded while you use the spare. Should teach him not to throw his dummy out the pram.
I bought a car yesterday. Nothing fancy on my tight budget. It is a vauxhall Astra on a 2002 plate.
Drove car home and it worked perfectly. Drove around in it during the evening, no problems. Late last night i had a silly row with teenage son, who in a temper smashed keys into floor and one of the car keys broke apart. We managed to clip back together, but now my car won't start. Could he have damaged fob ?. Or have i bought a broken car.
Help!
