My car won't start what seems to be the problem?

Get a gallon of gas throw it in there and try to jump it... Just because there is enough power to turn a tiny light bulb on doesnt mean there is enough to start the car... If that doesnt work u have a more serious issue and should seek professional assistance.

the starter motor needs new brushes , give it a tap with a hammer then turn the key again

Just because your lights work does not mean that your battery is good. Battery could be low but still have enough volts to power your lights and radio but not enough to turn the car over. Also battery only last 3-5 yrs. I would start there and work my way down the line.

You might be low on gas (or not) but that would not make it so that the starter just clicked. Your battery may only have enouth electricity to turn on the interior light and to make clicking noises. Start by cleaning and tightening the battery cables. If you can start it with a good jumper battery, then have your battery and alternator checked.. If it starts with the jumper battery, then you know that your starter is good.

Um probably you did run out of gas. My boyfriend's car does the same thing with the gas gauge but I'm not sure what happens when he runs out-he carries a gas tank with him in the car (which makes the car wreak lol). I was with him once and it broke down but the car started making an intermittent noise and then the it turned out that a part had to be replaced.

If the lights come on, you have a working battery.

It's the starter in the ignition. Mine clicked like that when it went out.

could be your alternator or sylenoid

Ok guy's my car won't start now when I tried to start my car I got that clicking sound you get when your battery dies but it can't be the battery bcuz my lights comes on when I open the door. Also my gas tank meter-{whatever you call it} its not accurate so I really can't tell how much gas is in the car however I always put gas in it when the gas light comes on but I really haven't been using it alot only to go to the store so I was wondering if I ran out of gas unknowingly. So what do you guys think?
