My car won't start! Help me please!?

If he is actually looking at the timing belt then you are causing some valve damage by continually trying to start this. Sometimes the accessory belt can fray and enter the timing belt area thru the crank shaft. Not a good scenario either. It is tow time.

Engine stopped on it's own.

You say the timing belt is broken.

Now you get a complete diagnosis and estimate from a reputable technician.

You smell something, fluid leaking? water pump?

Could be you passed the maintenance interval long ago, or you had leakage cause belt failure. or a failed waterpump shaft bearing has caused belt failure.

Call AAA or what have you.

HI look at the bottom pulley.. that is the crank pulley is it turning or not.. if it is turning and the timing belt is not then I'd day timing belt.. if its broken you should be able to move the belt.. it may have snapped an is bound up at the crank..

good luck

May be a Belt worn or snapped. Bad location on a sonata

Bad battery, bad alternator, broken timing belt. No one here can even know without looking at it.

First, the timing belt is buried inside the engine & you can't see it. The belt you can see is the accessory or serpintine belt. IF that accessory belt is not turning when the engine cranks, the belt is probably bad.

don't buy Korean cars. 'Merica! Except I like lots of foriegn cars.... just don't buy Korean. 'Merica!

So here is what happened. I was driving a few blocks away from my friends house then i noticed my battery and fuel light came on as my car was stalling. My steering wheel and brakes locked up. Some how got it in neutral to park it somewhere. When I tried turning on the car all I heard was a loud squeeling noise like what a belt sounds like but the car would not turn over at all and the longer I was trying to turn the car over I smelled something gross but I couldn't decipher what it was. When my friend looked under the hood the timing belt would not attempt to move at all as I was trying to start it. Someone please tell me what could be the cause of this. I own a 2005 hyundai sonata.
