My car won't start? Could it be the battery?

Most likely it is the battery. Unless you left something on (dome light, door ajar, etc.), the battery is probably bad. A good battery will not run down in two weeks. After you get it started, go to a Wal-Mart or auto parts store (call the store first) to have the battery tested. They can tell you if it is bad and will not hold a charge.

Take the 12 volt battery to any store that sells new ones *other than Auto Zone. Ask for a free 15 second battery *load test to see what the reserve amperage capacity is. Amperage spins starter motors not volts.

Amperage is useless with out voltage country boy

Sounds like battery. Charge it with a charger to keep from over working the alternator only use jumper cables if you have no other options

Could be your starter or corrosion on the contacts. The only way to know is to take a look at it and see what happens with a jump.

Perhaps you left a light on and it drained the battery completely.

flat battery , why it is flat depends on the age of the battery and condition of the alternator and if you left anything on , even the alarm will run the battery down eventually

I left my car parked for just a little over two weeks without using it. I went to use it today and when I turned the key absolutely nothing happened. Does that sound like it probably is the battery? I am having a friend come later to try to give me a jump but I am so scared the issue is deeper because I can't afford that.

It is a 2001 Saturn.
