Sound like the Trans Control computer may be getting an eratic signal. If you have a GM product check with your local dealer. GM relaesed a critical recall for this same problem. Had a truck down shift to 1st from 5th comming off of the interstate, just last week.
It sounds like there may be an issue with your transmission. Bringing the vehicle to a reputable shop and letting a qualified mechanic run some tests on it may be the best choice. Good luck!

Sounds like it is going into "limp" mode.
You need to get it checked out on a computer before damage is caused.
There is a reason it does this.
Transmission fluid is old.
After driving it for a while and slowing down back into first gear it will not shift into second gear and will spuder at about 45 mph. What's wrong with it?
