I have had a similar fault code before about the cam sensor. To me it sounds like you may need to check your oil level (maybe there is too much oil in your engine). Cam sensors can send a fault code if too much oil has been added, and not sure, but maybe if there is too little oil as well. At the rate that you put miles on your car, you would be adding around 26,000 miles per year.
You should not wait for a specific time amount of time to pass before getting an oil change, such as 3-6 months, but rather you should change your oil every 3,000 miles which for you would be around every 6 weeks (6 * 500 = 3,000), I recommend using full synthetic oil if your car can use it.
Based on what I've seen on Kelly Blue Book website, if you decided to sell your car yourself as opposed to trading it in, you should get at least $3,500 for it. Considering that you regularly put 500 miles on it each week, it would not be unlikely that you will need to get more repairs done to the car in the future, which may possibly total to more than what your car is worth.
Come on baby.
The Crank position sensor could cause the car to act like that. Go to you tube & they have videos that can show you how to replace it. it's also relatively cheap (around $30) to replace Other thing that could be is a fuel filter ? As far as your cat it could just be your O2 sensors causing the Cat code. Hope this helps.
Hi, I drive a 2005 Nissan Altima, and just recently it's started to act strange.
Three days ago, I tried to start my car, it wouldn't start, so I gave it a little gas and it started up.
The next day, I was sitting at a stop light, and when I tried to go, the car wouldn't move. I turned it off, and turned it back on, then it drove fine from there.
Yesterday, the car wouldn't start yet again. Only this time, it made sort of a weird noise, and the steering wheel locked up. Once I got the steering wheel to unlock, it started fine.
This morning, I was driving in traffic, and it shut off. I stopped, turned the car off and turned it back on again.
I took it to the shop near my work, and they told me three codes showed up. One of the codes was some kind of "crank sensor", not really sure what that is. The other two parts were part of the catalytic converter. I don't remember what they were called, but for one of them, he said the only way to check if it's broken is to take it out and look... And once it's out, you can't put it back in.
I guess I have several questions.
1. With the performance of the car, what does it sound like is wrong?
2. The car is a 2005 Nissan Altima, it's got 153,000 miles on it, and I drive about 500 miles a week for work. Worst case scenario, is it with it to put $1,400 into this car? Is it even worth anything?
I'll take all the help I can get!
Thanks so much if you read all of this!
