Hi so when an engine light comes on it indicates the car needs attention. if you ignore it will not go away it will do one of two things after a small amount of time go into limp home mode or just do as this one has and just switch off everthing the worst cases are land rovers which have stopped in the fast lane on a motorway and has the dragged up on the back of a truck as the wheels remain locked on.

Might be your transmission or wires to your battery or transmission.
