My car has trouble starting sometimes, and when the problem started, my "service engine" light came one. My ba

You need to tell us the brand and warranty period of your two year old battery. Low dollar batteries have only a two year warranty.

We need to know the year make and model of your car. Ignition wires are only good for 50,000 miles. Change the fuel filter THEN have the fuel pressure tested by the dealer of the car.

the battery is only one part of that potential issue. you could have a set of worn brushes in the starter or alternator. if you can get it to start, take it to a shop and have them run a starting and charging system test. this should tack down the weak point.

spark plugs would be the cheapest place to start since it is a know issue

The sound you hear can be low battery voltage and or corroded connections. this can be from a problematic battery, charging circuit and or connections, sure catch up on your maintenance but dont degrade your system with low quality parts.

You are SO way past due for plugs it's not even funny.

By all means, get new spark plugs.

Me-thinks your fuel pump in on its last legs, or you need to change your fuel filter.

Battery is about 2 years old, nothing else is wrong with my car except that it takes an extra second or two to start, and makes a weird sound (usually the sound you get when your battery is dead and you try starting the car)

I've read everywhere and it sounds like I need new spark plugs, which would make sense because my car is like 14 years old with 140k miles on it, and I don't think the spark plugs were replaced before I purchased it. I got the car 4-5 years ago with 100k miles already on it.

Could it be something else besides the spark plugs? I don't think it's my starter either because I got it replaced about 2 years ago as well. Everything was replaced, except the spark plugs.
