My astra 1.6 is just suddenly losing power could it be that it needs a new coil pack?

Is it running on all cylinders? Run the engine, and leave it idle. Then pop the bonnet, and pull off each spark plug cap separately one by one. If the engine changes sound, then that cylinder is working fine. If the engine doesn't change sound when you remove one, then that one is giving you the problem.

It could be anything and until you plug it into a computer you'll never know.

That's a lot cheaper in the long run than trying to eliminate the problem by ad hoc replacement of parts.

The cost of the car is usually the cheapest part of any deal, keeping it on the road costs just as much, fuel, repairs, MOT's & tax is all a constant drain on your wallet.

Hi so it has gone into limp home mode because modern motor cars need a regular service. so time to earn some money and get it to a vauxhall dealer as it has a fault.

If the engine management light is not on then it is not in limp home mode (DR+ Mrs Bears face = wrong again.

If a coil pack has started to fail then that would result in a misfire and rough running which would be felt as that and not just poor performance.

Not able to diagnose from this question, could be so so many things. You need someone to actually take a look at the car that knows what they are doing.

I only bought the car and it was running well But recently its taking off very slow and taking too long to get to 60mph

it is a 2003 astra 1.6 16v sxi 3 door I would expect this wee car to be fast enough but just recently have no power of it.

The Engine electronics, transmission electronics, light came on the night for a brief while.

Had while problems there with an old vectra and cost me a fortune then I ended up have to get the car scrapping the car. So saved up and wasted all my money on this we car and have no money for a mechanic. So any ideas how to help will be appreciated.#

Anyway of telling if it needs new coil pack?
