My Jetta just exploded oil everywhere?

The noise is the more worrying bit and probably means some internal engine damage due to lack of oil in it. As we cannot see the engine we cannot say what went wrong or estimate the repair cost. You will need to get a good mechanic to look at it and get their advice on what needs to be done to repair it.

Oil cap gone? I can't look at it so can't tell you. Why you you drive 3 miles with the oil light on? Hopefully, it needs a cap and some added oil.

You drove it up the street to a shop. Why are you asking here?

maybe oil filter was loose from last oil change and just came off? - if that's all, just get a new filter and a couple of qts of oil

I was driving and my oil light started flashing. I have a 2000 Jetta GLS. A little bit after the oil light started flashing I started hearing noise. I drove the car about 3 minutes up the street to a car shop and lifted up the hood and oil was splattered everywhere. Do you know what could be wrong? And also how much this will cost me. Please respond, thank you.
