Mercedes e280 cdi sport vibrating and then stalling?

It's an automatic transmission, from mention of being in 'D'.

As you say there is an unusual noise as well as the vibration, the first and most important thing is to check the fluid level in the transmission - if that's low it could cause juddering & noise, also possible damage if it's too low for too long.

Make sure you use the correct fluid type if you need to top it up, a wrong type can cause serious damage.

Also check the engine oil level is within the proper range - if it's low, top it up & if it's high get it changed immediately - if the engine has a dodgy injector it's possible for fuel to ooze and bypass the rings over time, contaminating the oil.

A higher than normal oil level can be a sign of this and it can cause serious engine damage if the diluted oil is left in.

Your going to have to get it code read,

You have a common rail diesel Merc which can be code read By most garages ,

best guess?

EGR valve,

but that's a guess.

Oh and ignore the last guy,

your diesel engine has none of the parts mentioned!!

Hi so i see we have omitted how old this is and what sort of mileage it has done so no surprises for guessing why these facts have been omitted.old car and lots of mileage get a mercedes dealer to come and fix your prestige car.

.

Drove my Mercedes back from work (50 miles) parked at home. Started it after 5 min and put it in D the started shaking and it started moving off quick and i carried on driving. When i approached the traffic lights i stopped while in drive i had my foot on brake the car started to shake and then stalled. If i accelerate and drive off its fine, only when stop in d, it shakes and then stalls. I can also hear a whining noise while in N stopped,
