The Mercedes Touchshift transmission ( what Benz calls their manumatic transmission ) is an automatic transmission with the capability of the driver manually selecting each gear. It is NOT a standard transmission and therefore does not require a clutch pedal ( what you're calling the "3rd petal" ).

If it is stuck in limp mode, it will be in 2nd gear and yes, you can damage the engine and transmission by driving it continuously at high engine and transmission speed. I suggest you get it fixed sooner rather than later.

Sell the car you have no idea and are just trashing a well built car. You should stick to video games and the bus. Man-o-man has Fast and the furious a lot to answer for. Now you Americans think you can drive stick shift.

i have been driving my Mercedes and it has automatic and shifting too (shifting up and down by hitting the knob to the left or right) i dont have the 3rd petal and lately i have been driving the car in d1 (first gear im assuming) and it picks up speed super fast and sounds so beautiful i was wondering if it can damage the car in any way? i know i will waste more gas since the rpms are always high
