Like above said, go tow it out & find a different shop. Most decent places wont mess around with any type of modification deals so if one engine may work but will require modification, we real technicians wont even touch it since we do not want to put up with the B.S. that will come from it when you start fussing this isnt right or that isnt right
find another mechanic
this happend to my sister a month ago the refused to do anything for her till i came up and they did it
damn mechanics trying to pull this stuff all the time
Somehow, we have no idea why, you must have pis*ed off the mechanic. Drag the thing to a Toyota Dealer.
Its the mechanics job to do the work he agrees to do, he will probibly agree to replace the motor with an identical motor, or an alternate motor provided you are willing to pay aditional costs associated with installing custom engine, fuel and ignition controllers for the different engine. I read on the internet once that you could drop a pratt and whitney PT6 in there and that puppy will go.
Can you put a PT6 engine in an 87 MR2? sure you can! but its going to cost extra just like its goig to cost extra to chaneg to the motor you want to install but you dont strik me as the kind of guy that would be willing to pay extra for a little extra work so youd better find a direct fit original or overhauled engine
get youre car back and go fine another mechanic not easy but what else to do
Well i recently sent my 87 toyota mr2 to a "toyota specialist" because it broke down he then called and said i needed to replace the engine and said that I needed to find one? (Thought his job was to do that) so i found a 3sge and he swears up and down it wont work that it HAS to be the original 4age engine when other people have done engine swaps and when i told him that he got an attitude and argued with me.... he has had my car for a month now and refuses to even touch it.. its just sitting in his shop (hopefully not outside...) what should i do??
