No, it is not "suggested". Synthetic oil is REQUIRED. Since you seem to be unclear on the correct operation and maintenance of your vehicle, I strongly recommend that you consult your nearest dealership and READ your owner's manual.
If it has over 1 million miles on it as you say then I would ask the previous owner what he was using because it sure works. If it has 104 thousand miles on it, probably doesn't matter but you might as well use synthetic because it is way better and only costs another 5 bucks a jug. Your gas bill will break you long before another five bucks once in awhile.
All Land Rovers use Synthetic, I would advise you to use the best 100% Synthetic Oil in the World AMSOIL.
Consult your cars manual book. That should be your new friend. If you ain't got one find one.
Back to the question to begin with your Land Rover will operate on any oil. It is not the brand that is so important unless you have specific driving conditions. That would be like driving in northern Canada or driving in LA. Both are extreme driving conditions in very different environments. These are all very good products. When formulating an oil the first concern is to meet the API specification. You should be fine if you keep under the API specification. Success
I just bought a 2006 land rover and want to know if synthetic oil is recommended (it has 1004 thousand miles) any help or chat would be helpful. Thanks
