Steering wheel is locked as the other people have said, its so is someone gets in your car but doesn't have keys then they can't drive the car away
Happens all the time, just wiggle your steering wheel and try turning it as you wiggle it.
Try wiggling the key or another key if you know the steering wheel lock mechanism isn't binding it up.
Countyboy and Daremo are both right
Your steering wheel is locked. Turn the steering wheel in the same direction as they are pointing and try the key again.
Yup, happens a lot. when the ignition is locked, the steering is also locked, If the wheels are turned this can "jam" the ignition switch due to the pressure on the steering lock. Put the key back in the ignition, before you turn the key, turn the steering wheel in the direction of the wheels to release this pressure, then turn the key.
Yesterday i parked my car, turned it off and got out. I saw the front wheels turned sideways, so i just turned the steering wheel to straighten out the front wheels without starting the car. This morning i got in and try starting it, but the keys aren't turning. The parking brakes is on btw so that's not the problem.
