Key won't come out of the ignition? (2010 Toyota Camry)?

You might have to pull the steering wheel fairly hard in one direction left or right.

Thanks guys; I tried turning the steering wheel but I probably just didn't turn it hard enough; I was afraid of breaking something. Thanks for the answers!

Try moving the steering wheel (although it may be tough) back and forth and slowly try taking the key out. Usually works.

You might have to pull the steering wheel fairly hard in one direction left or right. My last two Toyotas have done that to me.

Tonight I was driving to the store - no problem, everything seemed fine.

When I was driving back, I realized the radio wouldn't turn on. I had to drop someone off, so I stopped in their driveway for a bit to see if I could restart the car. The keys seemed to stop halfway; all the lights turned off except for the headlights when I tried to turn off the car. I tried to start the car again and the check engine light popped up and stayed up. This time, the radio lit up for a second and then turned off again. It still worked; I could still listen to music but the screen was totally black. The overhead lights also worked. The key just wouldn't come out.

I tried jiggling the steering wheel but it was locked; I tried putting the car in Drive, Reverse, everything but as soon as I put it into Park the steering wheel and the ignition locked up. I pushed down the Emergency Brake, waited about 10 minutes and the keys finally came out.

Am I overlooking something obvious? I just got my license and my car so I may just be inexperienced. The radio wouldn't turn on when I was driving, though, so I'm fairly sure it's there's something else.

I'll probably bring the car into the mechanic in a couple of days, but I'd like to know if this is something I can fix myself or something I should check with a professional.
