Key won't come out of ignition!?

Why would the battery be dead? Has the car not been driven for weeks because that battery should keep a charge for maybe a month?

Are the battery terminals connected? Jiggle the steering wheel back and forth, make sure is in park.

Did you put the wrong key in?

Can you jump it? If is in a garage then push it out so another car can jump it. Be careful the brakes will not work, use the hand brake.

If not then you can call AAA or a tow service and make sure they have a portable jumper system.

Or take the battery out and take it to an auto parts store they may charge it for free, but that will take at least an hour or more? Then you take it back and put it in the car.

If you jump it, let car run for at least 30 min to charge the battery. DO NOT drive it anywhere.

There may be a button on the steering columb or it is not in park, had a Buick the other day the key would not come out with a dead battery.

Try turning the steering wheel a little bit.

Sounds like someone is going to be in big trouble in less than two days. He probably put a shim in the ignition switch to catch you being a 15 year old dumb azz.

thats what a brilliant idea will get you.

look at the owners manual.

have you tried turning it off and on again

So my dad is out of town, so I had the brilliant idea of taking his Volvo C30 on a spin around the neighborhood. I'm only a dumbass 15 year old, so it was not exactly legal what I was planning on doing. I didn't actually go out because the car wouldn't start. None of the lights even turned on when I put the key in the ignition and turned it. I give up on the driving thing, and try to take the key out, but it won't come out! My dad will be home in less than 2 days! I called my mom, and she'll be here tomorrow to help me out. If I jump start the battery, will the key come out if I start the ignition and turn it off again? I don't know what to do! I'm freaking out if it doesn't work out with my mom!
