Jump starting help?

my car battery is dead and im wondering if i connect my riding lawn mower battery to my car battery if i can jump stsrt the car??

Try it. After a dead battery rests for a few hours it sometimes rejuvenates a bit and the extra juice from the little battery might start the car. If it doesn't you don't lose that much. Why don't you call a friend to come over to give you a jump? I've used little boosters to start cars whose battery didn't even have the juice to click the solenoid. The key is to let the booster sit for about 5 minutes connected to the bad battery.

If your car battery is completely dead - "hornchurchmale" is probably right - even a 12 volt lawn tractor battery wold have the "Cold Cranking Amps" to jump start a car engine.

On the other hand, if the battery in the car just needs a *little* help, the lawn tractor *may* get you going.

Many of the portable "jump starters" have smaller batteries - like lawn tractor batteries or even smaller - but they won't start an engine with a completely dead battery.

Although your lawn mower battery is 12 volts, like your car's, it probably doesn't have the capacity required to start your car. If you try, the high current may not only destroy your mower battery, but also could be dangerous.

Lawnmower battery is no better than a motorcycle battery. Not enough current flow (amps) for a car starter. Just buckle down and buy a new battery. This is the cost of a mechanical girl-friend. Get used to it. Next she wants a muffler, or tires, or brakes, or oil & filter change, or chrome wheels, or a wheel alignment, or a clutch, or a wax job, or gasoline.

Get used to it. All in time for car insurance.

If you cannot afford this "Ho"-you cannot afford to drive.

Again, get used to it.

A lawn-mower battery doesn't have enough AMPS to start a car.

I wouldn't even try it, as it may be dangerous. If another car is not available, just call a local towing service to give you a jumpstart or bring you a new battery.

if lawnmower battery is 12v it may work .though it may not have enough capacity for a car boost.
