Is this at worth it?

get the new engine install and it sounds like the mechanic does not want to do the job

Well if you like the car and don't mine that when your done dumping money into it, that you will never be able to get it back out if re-sold. I would say keep the car til it completely dies then you can junk it. Don't matter how much money you dump into the car Its still not going to be any more valuable then its min blue book value. The engine alone does not determine the value of car.

Its a personal thing If you think its worth a new engine then do it its money you will never see again

Hope it helps

That is a tough call if you spend like $1,000 on the car the car will still only be worth $1,000 . The body is from 1982 which is over 30 years old, so it is a serious risk of your money.

Get another whole running car for 800 and keep the tyres and other bits you can use. Junk the rest.

With Corinthian leather?

Junk it.

I have a 1982 Chrysler Córdoba that I paid $800 for. It has 83,000 miles on it. I just found out that the piston rings need to be replaced but it's a lot cheaper to get another engine put in. The engine is only $900. The mechanic told me that it isn't worth it since the engine costs more than what I paid for the car. I really want to keep this car because I don't mind putting money into it. Should I junk it?
