Is rust effecting a car (rat look) legal in the UK?

provided that the structural parts of the car are still solid and there are no sharp or jagged edges then it is perfectly fine and legal,

Not illegal unless it affects the structure of the car in such a way as to fail an MOT, or results in jagged edges, but it's a f**king stupid thing to do to a car. Hope you haven't spent a lot on it because it'll be in the scrapyard in a year.

Nice answer from Hairy Jim, says it all.

Legal, certainly. Unique? No. Contrived? Extremely. Make you look like a dick? Absolutely. Remove the entire value of the car? You betcha. A red rag to any Police or VOSA inspector? Guess what..... yup!

As long as the integrity of the body is unaffected there is no problem.

"Rat rod" LMFAO, kid dont do it you will just be a laughing stock.

I have an 1998 fiat punto that I am thinking of turning into a rat rod. Is removing the paint and replacing with a layer of rust legal in the UK?

I am aware that I will probably have to notify my insurance as the colour of the car will change but other than that is it legal?
