Is it safe to drive when muffler's falling off?

Your husband is wrong and he is putting your life and possibly the life of others in danger. If the muffler is falling off then it is loose. That means carbon monoxide is escaping from the exhaust system and is more than likely entering your vehicle. This can cause you to go to sleep and kill yourself in an accident. Carbon Monoxide is odorless and tasteless. It will be there and you will not even know it. It will creep up on you and the accident will happen and you will be clueless as to how this happened. I know this happened to me in 1965 driving an old 1955 Mercury with a loose muffler. I had a horrible accident that I still bear the scars from. This is not even considering the danger to other cars and especially a motorcycle if the muffler falls off and they hit it. Do not drive this car until you have this repaired.

What he most likely means is he will attend to the muffler when he has the time. Guys don't respond to things like this at first because he is going to work and the car will still get him there. Give him a chance to to attend to this later and see if he does.

Better hope it doesn't fall off while driving down the highway or freeway.

It would become a dangerous piece of bouncing, or flying debris, that could crash through someone's windshield and kill them.

Maybe he's exaggerating a little bit???? We hope so, don't we??

It might be a bit noisy but it should be OK to drive provided it is not dragging along the ground sending up sparks everywhere.

The muffler is not really a 'safety' feature of the car, but you should get it repaired as soon as possible.

Not safe for people behind you. Could be very dangerous for traffic behind. Just get it repaired so you don't have to worry about it.

it will be noisy but with out a muffler the exhaust gas can seep in to the car cause the exhaust gases are not being properly removed to the back of the car he needs to get it replaced

Good way to kill a motorcyclist when it falls off.

Fix the damn thing or take the bus.

Not for traffic behind you. At LEAST wire it up w/ a coathanger. Sheesh.

No problem. It may be loud, but it won't hurt the car or him.

On the way to work my husband messaged me saying the mufflers falling off. He said it's fine. He doesn't seem worried at all. Isn't it dangerous too drive? I don't understand how he's not bothered at all by this.
