Is it normal for my ball joints to squeak?

No . . . ball joints should never make any noise . . . sometimes they can make a grinding/grating sound.....when they are very, very worn or cracked/fractured.

You need to find out what's going on there......is it a sound of metal-on-metal, or a rubbery squeak such as a bad bushing.....etc. Something may have been disturbed, not properly seated or not properly replaced while the front-end was being worked on. Noise means friction which means wear.

I really don't think your ball joints are making the noise. I think it is your springs that are getting a workout on those speed bumps, not that it will harm then that is unless you fly over them. Get a can of WD-40 and spray where the springs mount up I think it will stop making the noise for a while.

Hi,

I recommend taking your Mustang to a Ford Dealer to be properly diagnosed. Ask to speak with the service manager. He’ll be in the best position to look into your concern and advise of the next steps.

In the meantime, locate a dealer near you and set up an appointment with the link below:

If they are squeaking or grinding they are dry and all the grease has gone due to a torn boot. They need replacing before they fail.

I just had my lower front ball joints replaced on my mustang. I stay on a college campus so I am aleays taking my car over spoed bumps. Is it normal for them to squeak while they are new? They make a sqeaky grinding noise. I just had them replaced less than a month ago.
