man that rice sounds real good at 8ooo rpm rev it to 8000 rpm koolman
Reving your engine in general is bad for your car
Actually, it's worse on the engine NOT to rev it on occasion. Here's why (as briefly as I can):
An engine is an air pump. The higher you rev the engine, the faster the air moves through it. Why does that matter? Because fuel is sprayed into your intake manifold, then sucked in by the piston. The faster it's sucked in, the less of a chance the fuel has of building up on the walls of the ports, backs of valves, etc. and turning into carbon deposits in the cylinder and in the ports. Those carbon deposits can hurt performance and fuel economy and can cause damage to the engine. Revving the engine higher allows the combustion chamber to get hotter and burn off some of those deposits. That can help you get better fuel economy, make your car run more smoothly, and have more power, with less of a chance of breaking down.
I try to rev mine high (over 5000 for a V8) at least once or twice a week even in winter. In summer, I tend to make one trip that high at least once a week, but prefer to do it daily. Getting on the highway? Hold 2nd gear until redline once. That's all it takes.
Not at all. 4000 rpm isn't that high for Honda engines. However, depends on which gear you are driving, 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear shouldn't exceed the speed limit but 4th and 5th gears should exceed 100km/h. I used to hit over 6000 rpm in 1st and 2nd gears, just remember to change your engine oil periodically depends on your driving styles. I changed mine very 5k. Hope this helps.
I drive a 2003 Acura RSX Base edition the red line limit is at 6800RPM. Is it bad to sometime step on the gas and rev the engine while driving to around 4000RPM?
