A "refurbished long block" includes the inside moving parts of an engine... pistons, crank shaft, cam, valves, etc., that are subject to wear. All these parts will be new or rebuilt to new specs, and then the original outer components of your engine will be mounted to them. This MAY give you the potential for putting more miles on your old car, but it's still an old car with a transmission, suspension and running gear from 1999. Unless you are absolutely in love with this car and want to keep it for the next 100 years or so, it's not worth the time or the effort. Call the local junk yard and see what they will give you for it.
Oh no, the engine is much cheaper than the transmission is in that car. That engine you can buy for around $600 that transmission to have it rebuilt will run around $2,000.
The A/C pump can easily run $400 and then the freon and the mechanics bill.
And no, a new engine does not equal a new car. Not even close.
Sounds to me you'd be better off finding a $1,000 older used car that is still running good and save yourself some money.
No , its just a new engine ( there are also the interior , wiring , muffler , wheels and tires , transmission , rear end , front end , shocks , sway bars and dozens of other parts ) the heater and a/c unit are not included with the engine , and neither are the radiator ( cooling system ) , those are all extra
the engine is only one part of the car and you would spend more installing a new engine that your old car is worth , even a rebuilt is going to cost you $2000 or more to buy and install and you have a car worth less than that , you could just spend that money on a good used car and sell yours for parts
No. All the parts of the car are old. Putting a new engine in a 1999 car just gives you a 15 year old car with a new engine. In any case a refurbed engine isn't a new engine.
Put a new engine in a 15 year old car and anything else could go the following week.
not a new engine, neither a new car,
it only means that the worn out parts in the engine are being replaced
not really new engine but it comes as close as when it is out of the production line
the only advantage from a refurbished engine is that you get close or same performance from a new engine but with lower costs
This is October. You claim not to have used this car since February. Clearly you have no need for his car for you have managed to live without it for nine months. In view of this fact, you do not need a car period. Eight months ago I would have offered this for sale, as is, and moved on. Cars depreciate each month. If you have been paying for insurance and registration for this car, this adds to the foolishness of the choice just to abandon it. If you cannot afford a car, new, old, free, then sell this junked car and be done with the experience.
Your engine is the heart of your vehicle whether it’s gas or Diesel power or a hybrid. So it make your car new in feel but not in look.Outer body is the first thing visible. If your car body is ok then new car engine will be a good.
Refurbished is an old engine that has been rebuilt. Your car is 1999. Nothing you can do will make it newer,.
For the price of your repairs, you can buy a much better car.
A refurbished engine will be a used engine that has been rebuilt/inspected.
I have a 1999 Mercury Sable GS. It's been setting in my car port since Feb. The body is still good, and besides I can't afford to buy used car right now.
My dealership said these are the repairs needed.
Engine- Long Block
Water Pump
Heating And Air Conditioner
Cooling System
In layman's terms what comes with a new engine?
Autozone said the engine they will order for me will be a refurbished one. What does that mean. It is new or what?
Yes, putting in a new engine makes it a brand new car.
NO. There are tons of other things that will break your wallet.
Refurbished is when they take a broken one and fix it to factory specs. What is the price? Check online and know your price.
as they all said no, it isnt new an dinstallinf a remanufactured engine will cause your transmission to go next
Certainly not.
No
