Is a cold air intake worth it?

Certainly. The factory puts out the best car they can but somehow you think they are holding back? They are competing with the other European cars, the domestics, and the Asians to sell their vehicle.(having thousands of dollars for Research and Development and test tracks and dynos to measure horsepower and wind tunnels.

. What do you have in comparison...N O T H I N G.no science, no mechanical engineering, no chemical engineering

. The VR6 puts out what it puts out. If they could reliably get more horsepower, they would use it but they don't because it is not worth it.

. Changing the intake will give you a different sound so you "think" you have more power when all you have is more noise.

. I mean you can do it, it is your money to waste.

I have used k&N filters on several vehicles and have had good results. you can immediately feel the difference in power. its nothing earth shattering but you can feel the difference. im sure there is a mpg difference also. the kits come complete with all tubing and clamps needed to install correctly to eliminate any air turbulence problems of the intake. buy a reputable kit as you only get what you pay for..

5-20 ponys? Not a chance. An aftermarket CAI on a fuel injected engine with a MAF sensor adds NOTHING and independent tests have shown that over and over.

You already have a factory CAI that's tuned to your engine. Tests have shown that when you remove that and replace with an aftermarket unit, you can actually decrease performance by introducing turbulence into the MAF. Read this to see why aftermarket CAIs are pure baloney.

yep

It depends. They can be expensive, but they do add some power. 5-20 Ponies on most cars. Shop around for the best deal and price.

Right....expense means effective. $2 worth of Chinese plastic is hundreds of dollars on actual engine modifications. That is not how any of this works.

yes

I have an 00 Jetta VR6. It could use some more power and efficiency. Would installing a cold air intake be worth it? Any experience on cold-airing the VR6 engine? If it is worth it, would K&N be the best bet? Or APR or Unitronic?
