Is 325 horsepower reasonable for a 1978 chevy truck?

I have a 1978 Chevrolet silverado Lwb c10 and I blew the motor so I bought a 350 crate motor with 325 horsepower is that reasonable for my truck???

Compare what the original horsepower was back in 78, Your new engine is about double the horsepower, If you have a two wheel drive you might wan t to consider putting in a shift kit into the transmission.

As long as compression is around 8:1 so you can run regular, it's perfect. Expect around 10 MPG.

That's probably about twice what it made stock. In the late 1970s, crude efforts at tuning engines to make less smog led to everything having pretty crappy power ratings.

Unless you are seriously into racing, 325 will be more than enough horsepower for anything you need!

The OLD rule of thumb was ONE HORSE POWER per CUBIC INCH! the new standard ios TWO or more HP from each cubic inch! A 350 making 325 HP is just a tick UNDER ONE HP per cubic inch! By rights to \be MODERN< a 350 chevy shoudl make nearly 700 HP to be NORAML by todays standards! Chevies are NOT as great as people think they are! The OLD 350 was reaplced in 2003 by the NEW generation 350 and the original 350 "LEAKERS" were shelved, a GOOD THING! the new generation 350 engines have the crank more central to the heart of the engine, or in the middle, and the crank does NOT spalsh around the oi lpan like the old one did! It has LARGER cam openigns and some even m\have VARIJABLE VALVE TIMING with two valve push rod design! If you get 375 HP from your OLD generation 350, you are doing awfully good! They never were well balanced either! But soem just LOVE that oldf BOW TIE THINGY!

Yes, more than reasonable. It should move your truck around just fine. Good luck with the new engine!
