Increasing Rim Size?

You want to keep the overall height/diameter of the tire to remain the same.

For an original 195/70R14 size, a very close fit would be a 215/45R17 ( which would be 0.5% taller ). Usually a +/- 2% deviation from original size is considered acceptable.

Just note that if you did go for that 215/45R17 size, you would need to get an XL ( extra load ) version of that tire to make sure the load index did not go below the original tire. The weight carrying capacity of a tire is very important. You can always go higher than what the manufacturer lists but you should never go below.

Go to the wheels section @ tirerack.com to see which wheels will fit correctly. When increasing wheel size you should talk to a tire professional @ tirerack.com

Best thing to do is go down to your local tire shop. They will assist you in the best route to take.

I have size 14 inch rims on my car with 195/70/14 tires on. I would like to increase the rims to size 17 but not sure what tires would be best suited to replace the difference in height 70. Can some please assist me with an appropriate tire size.
