If I get just a new muffler for my truck, do I need to get a new air intake?

Even if you did put on a cold air intake (which will do NOTHING), as long as you keep the factory cam, intake manifold, and valves, your engine CAN'T breath differently. Your buddies don't know squat about engines. Read this about aftermarket cold air intakes

You only got a new muffler, it will be a different if you got all new entire exhaust system.

somebody didnt know what they were talking about. before you ever change intakes or cams, your heads need to be able to flow the increased cfm. if they cannot, your mods will never perform like my mods lol.

Shouldn't need one.

A "Cold Air Intake" basically does nothing to a modern fuel injected engine.

Unless you are running wide open throttle all the time and experiencing issues, you should be fine.

no you don't

Someone told me I should first get an aftermarket air intake before getting a new muffler. I only want to do the muffler (flowmaster 50 series) on my 2001 dodge ram which has a single exhaust pipe. anyways I was told that I should first look into air intakes because the muffler will make the truck "exhale" more and need more air faster and stronger to get into the engine?

I thought this was only the case if I was getting an entirely new exhaust system?

anyone??
