I've never changed a side-mount battery before and don't know how to remove the cables?

10MM or a 5/16 is the wrench size. When you are ready to go back with the cables HAND START the threading of the bolts into the battery. You may have to jiggle the cables slightly to get them lined up.Snug the bolts about 1/8 of a turn. Make sure the connection is tight but don't overtighten as it is possible to damage the battery threads

Snap off the plastic covers and you'll see a small bolt. Remove the bolt on the negative cable first. Then lift the cable out and repeat on the positive cable

Be it side mounted or top mounted, basic still applies. Disconnect the negative first then the positive. The positive is usually red to distinguish from the negative. New cars uses 10 mm wrench now but some still uses the usual 1/2 wrench.

With a wrench, just like a top mount.

get a 10mm wrench and just take the cables off. Do not lay your wrench across the terminals.

turn in your man card.
