there are many CARB(California air resources board ), compliant aftermarket cats...

So, save your money go aftermarket.

these typicaly don't go bad often unless there is a more serious engine issue... im not familiar with any tests cause I don't have any here but id assume if you bought a after market one they usualy say they meet or exceed oem expectations... so just make sure it says some thing like that.. I no they sell (high flow cats) but im not sure if they would allow u to pass any tests or not... ethier get a used one or just make sure it meets or exceeds oem standards.

In Georgia, some folks remove the Catalytic Converter and replace it with a new piece of exhaust pipe. The catalytic converter also produces back pressure for the engine so you may need to make the new piece of exhaust pipe a smaller size in diameter than the rest of the exhaust system that will prevent your on board car computer from faulting. Atlanta is the only place in Georgia that requires emission testing and all they do is plug up their computer to your computer and check the gas tank filling lid. They never plugged anything up to my exhaust pipe.

HI, $2,400.00 for a Cat... HOLLY CRAP BATMAN... what are you driving a lambo??? go after market with a free flow cat.

Would the smog test center be able to tell with the emission data or is it just a visual inspection?

I can't afford the $2400 it will cost to replace an OEM catalytic converter so the aftermarket option is looking quite nice right now at about $400.

Please advise, I would appreciate any suggestions and insight.
