I just had a new clutch and flywheel installed and the clutch engages at the floor?

I have spoken to ZZperformance, GM, and Sachs and they have all told me that my engagement point of my clutch should not be that far down to the floor. They have said something is wrong for my clutch pedal to not engage until that close to the floor. Your engagement point and release point should never all be in the last 2" of travel to the floor.

This is normal when you put a performance clutch into your car. It never compares to OEM as the intention is to "grab" the most it can-it is supposed to engage with little to no effort. I've had two cars that I had this done and the same thing happened. Just get used to it, it takes a lil' while.

Let me explain something about clutches. As the clutch wears down, the engagement happens farther up the pedal travel. In other words, clutches wear out at the pedal, not in. A performance clutch will have very little travel. IF the clutch is disengaging completely, and there is no grinding into reverse, the clutch is properly bled, and working just as it should. IF there is not complete disengagement, there is a problem with the flywheel, or the clutch lining. It is too thick of lining, or the flywheel was not properly machined. Performance clutches can be VERY difficult to drive with, if you are inexperienced. They allow for very little slip, and engage rather harshly. Some even require double clutching to keep from damaging the gearbox synchro rings.

end play can bee the issue here. without looking it up, ill state that if it is a cable type that is not adjusted quite right but close.

You can adjust it, there is an adjustment at the pedal.

welcome to the racing world. LOL

It is a 2006 cobalt ss 2.0, The shop installed a GM performance clutch kit and a Fidanza flywheel. Now the clutch engages less than a 1/4" off of the floor. They have tried bleeding it more and that has not made any difference. Any ideas of what might be wrong? The shop seems to be clueless. All I know is that it does not feel safe to drive like this and I am hoping someone may have a suggestion as to how to find the cause. The shop has it right now, but they don't seem to have any answers as to what may be causing this problem, and there is no adjustment on this clutch
