Do the passenger door lock switch and remote key fob work? What year/make/model? The accessory socket fuse also powers the door lock relays on may cars and the shifter may use a separate fuse circuit to toggle the door lock relays.

It's most likely a problem with the button. If you're trying the driver's button, does the passenger side button work?

Check the fuses !

Does the door button work with an open door and/ or engine off?

Did the previous owner explain this to you?

Can the engine computer, or dash button(s) be re-programmed to your satisfaction?

Is a remote starter/ alarm installed in the vehicle?

My car works perfectly fine but the power locks don't work. I press the button inside my door to unlock all four doors but it doesn't work. I also try charging my phone with the car charger but it won't charge either. When I put my car on park, it automatically unlocks all four doors without me having 2 press anything 2 unlock them. When I put my car on drive it automatically locks all doors for safety. My problem is that the button to unlock and lock all my doors doesn't work. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
