I have a 1986 Toyota Corolla. The alternator is not charging and there's no warning light on the dash.?

Wildcat - I'm curious why you say that? Even if the battery is shot, shouldn't I be measuring 13-14 volts at the alternator with it running?

Fekefufu - I checked every fuse I could find on the car.

12.26V for a battery is showing that it needs to be replaced. It's unfortunate that you spent money on a part that you didn't need.

You will not get a correct reading on the alternator if it's connected to a defective battery. It's called loading effect.

It's time to change the battery not only the alternator.

Could be a fuse

It started losing electrical power and died. I charged the battery and then tested it and it was reading 12.26 volts. With the engine running it still reads 12.26 volts and would slowly drop. So I changed the alternator. It is still doing the same thing with the brand new alternator. Weird thing is that the "charging" warning light on the dash never lights up. I change the bulb too.

Please help!
