Also at night my when I slow down, my headlights dim. What could be wrong?

clean and tighten the battery connections, test the battery, test the charging system. tune it up and correct the carburetor adjustment.

since you dont give any info about what it is, what it has, or what you did to it, or didn't do. ask a technician to help you at a reputable automotive garage.

new info, its an '01 monte, now, while the battery is disconnected, clean the throttle with carb spray and a rag when you complete your tune-up with ac delco parts. Things that look bad, leaky, broken, weak, compromised, vacuum hoses, tubes, do the simple stuff. change the filters, pcv valve, when you reconnect, the PCM must see every signal in a short time to adapt. take it for a full drive cycle, then get the codes read by a tech. go from there.

It's obviously behind on its maintenance. This is a good time to find a garage that sells quality parts for a GM car, and has tech's that get sent to school for your make.

Sounds like a faulty alternator.

@Danny, lose battery connections won't cause those problems and cars haven't had carburettors since the 80's

I would suggest to clean the throttle body flap and the idle control valve. Take the whole throttle body out and remove the idle control valve. keep the idle control valve gasket in a safe place. Those cleaner will damage the gasket. The idle control valve can be clean! I use WD40 or equivalent lubricant to clean. use a tiny flat-head screwdriver to push the spring loaded flap and check if it is still movable or not. If not replace the idle control valve, also get a new gasket for it. If still movable just keep spray the WD40 and moving the flap back and forth. and wipe clean with a rag. Your best bet would be to take it to a mechanic, fix it and sell it.

Lauren, your name is written as Lauren and not "lauren." There is a rule as to capitalizing proper names in English. Please do so. It is not cute to make major grammatical mistakes just be the same as other ignorant teens. You also exhibit classic mechanophobia syndrome. You refuse to take the car to an auto technician for some unknown reason, presumably, money problems. And yet, only a mechanic can properly repair automobiles. Go find one.

Please include the year make and model of your car. A plugged fuel filter, low fuel pressure, dirty camshaft position sensor, dirty crankshaft position sensor and *fauly idle speed sensor.
