That's MY luck with dealerships.
Isn't there any other mechanics or garages you can take it to, to have them examine it? Like getting a 2nd opinion.
Take your car back to dealer.
No sugar / overheat thing. Start with this procedure:
1) Have a cooling system pressure test on it to see if it holds pressure.
2) Do a compression test on it to see if there is a head gasket compression leak into the water jacket.
3) If it's losing coolant, it may have a cracked head in the valve chamber area or intake plenum.
*One can see the engine temp with a cheap $25 laser temp gun pointed at the thermostat housing and intake manifold heater outlet. If they don't know what they are doing, go elsewhere.
Take it to the dealer or at least buy your next sensor from the dealer not the cheapest one that Good Guys can find.
I have a Mustang 2002 with 190,000 miles and for the past month I've been taking it to Good Guys Center because my SERVICE ENGINE is coming on. The first time they told me it was the coolant sensor and they have installed like 3 new ones, the temperature gauge does fail so I guess it is something about the sensor or so...or could It be what some person (I have no idea who) did to my car back in November when someone put sugar inside my car...I was in MEXICO and took it to a mechanic over there and he cleaned the tank and some parts of the engine, the pistons and all that...could that be causing my temperature gauge to fail and my SERVICE ENGINE to come on?? Maybe he cleaned it right? But would the machine the mechanics use detect something like that? Or does the coolant sensor have nothing to do with someone putting sugar in my gas tank? Cause at Good Guys they always tell me its the coolant temp sensor and Im tired of going back to them like every week.
I'm planning on taking it to the FORD DEALER, i didnt want to do this because i know they are going to charge me like $100 just to do the diagnostic but I really dont have any other choice...PLEASE HELP!!!
